Sometimes there are one-off characters in this strip that we’ll like as not never see again… I’m thinking of various farmers and dockside vendors and shop-keepers… but one look at their detailed renderings and you just know there are stories there that you’d love to hear.
I want to know everything about Daisy, her life story.
This man, Will Henry, could be a novelist… or a casting director. But I am glad he’s a comics writer/artist who sends these little ephemera out to the waiting world.
If I could feel all day the way I feel after these brief interludes in the Snug….
All would be well. All would be well. All manner of thing would be well.
It’s surprising the number of old abandoned vehicles one can come across roaming around in National Forests. I’ve seen some rather large ones, on occasion.
About 15 years ago, I purchased a 1970 Plymouth Barracuda. Had it flat-bed hauled to a restoration shop in a nearby large city. Estimate came back at $65k…and didn’t include engine rebuilding! Sold the car for what I had in it and said “no thanks!”
To be honest, I used to have that fantasy of restoring an old found vehicle. That was before I discovered “rust out” and frozen engine and drive train. I once even spotted an old willis jeep with a tree growing out of it. Now scrap dealers can come from all over and take them away, leaving only bare earth and armadillo warrens.

I had to say ‘Shoowah’ out loud to figure that one out. I kept saying Shoo – Wah, Shoo – Wah, Shoo – Wah in my head and couldn’t stop.

“Restoration” might not be the right word for it.
