I learned what dogs are capable of one fall day when we took our Scotty, Cairn terrier and trusty beagle for a walk along the Chesapeake Bay. They had gotten way ahead and seemed excited about something which when I got there turned out to be a crate of slimy, rotting herring. They were rolling in like it was Manna from Heaven. We had gone over in our skiff and when we got home it, us and the dogs were stinking to high hell and the dogs jumped out and headed for the house. I jumped out too and managed to head them off before they entered thru the doggy door. We spend many hours cleaning up and when through they looked up and me like “What?”
