They are different farms. Egg layers are farmed separate from the ones that become food. Unless you live on a farm!

Probably not but you pet may have eaten the hen that laid the eggs you ate.

My question is… Who saw how an egg arrives and decided that it would be a good thing to eat ?

My cousin has chickens on his farm. I have no idea what goes into chicken feed but I do know that they spend a good deal of time eating bugs.

Depends on how long ago you had the egg. Chooks are usually pretty good egg producers until about 4 or 5 years of age. After that they continue to be good bug exterminators, but after 7 they begin to get less tasty.

I grew up on a farm. We had chickens. Yes, I have eaten the eggs and the birds.

A fun thing to do while dining with friends.

Pick up a wing section off your plate. Hold it up and with an inquisitive expression say “I wonder….right or left?” Then eat it.

Being born and raised on a farm in NC, oodles of times. Farm Fresh all the time. Killed and butchered all our meats. Hogs, beef, chickens, turkeys, goats, and hunted all game and fished. Now we sized down as old age has gotten us. Wife and I have to buy from farmers now. Sigh!

When I was a Kid, we did that all the time.

We raised Chickens in the back yard. Fresh eggs almost every morning for breakfast.

We didn’t eat the Chickens until they Stopped laying eggs.

Or, in the case of the Roosters, we waited until they were as Large as they would ever get so they’d make a better meal.
