Heart of the City by Steenz for March 22, 2009

I’m Josh1360 and I’m new to this site, so let me point out what others have been saying when strips like these are made: This Sunday comic was done weeks (perhaps a month) in advance prior to that tragic skiing accident that took the life of actress Natasha Richardson. As it was with the bush fires over in Victoria, Australia last month, this is just fate playing its cruel joke on cartoonists.

Didn’t give it much thought Josh, fact is, I never even heard of N. Richardson until her accident, and truth be told, I don’t think humorists should consider that anyways. This doesn’t mean I’m being insensitive to her family, it just that her fame was media generated and the world shouldn’t stop because of this. I remember when H. Ledger died, people (I should say women) would say to me “OMG, did you hear H. Ledger died!”, and at first I said “who the f@#k is he?”, and they would say “Oh, he was in that gay cowboy movie”, like I was supposed to know this or make a big deal out of it! I’ve got people who are a lot closer to me that have life threatening problems that I don’t need to live my grief vicariously through media hyped deaths. No offense to either of their families.

I can vouch that I didn’t even think of Natasha Richardson in connection to this strip until you brought it up, Josh. All I was thinking was how cool Heart’s mom is and how well she rolls with Heart’s imagination.

So don’t be such a killjoy. ;-)

Heart has a very cool Mom, and her dolls are so cool they are frozen. LOL Drawing a similarity from a comic likely drawn weeks ago and a tragic accident is plain wrong.

I wonder what Heart would rig for Karlie’s white-water rapids trip.

Oh wait, that sounds like something up Dean’s alley…
