What, Peter got an A in Paige’s math class?

Dad’s a bad guesser which is why he spends half his time in the dog house.

Doesn’t Jason always get an A or better on math tests?

Somehow I thought he was congratulating Peter.

Everybody knows girls can’t do math. It must be true, I saw it on social media.

Actually, girls can do math but they do it differently than boys. According to a study I read in Scientific American, researches measured the brain wave patterns of both male and female mathematicians as they worked on the same set of problems. Although their derivations looked the same on paper, the two groups used different areas of the brain to solve the problems.

A funny strip, but it’s a shame to see Roger discourage his daughter from being good at math, as she obviously can be. He probably doesn’t even mean any harm, but it shows a lack of sensitivity to women. I’d like to think that since this strip was written, awareness has been raised to the point that men like Roger would be more sensitive to how unintentionally harmful micro-aggressive comments like his perpetuate stereotypes and social expectations that hold certain groups of people down, in this case women in STEM.

Like Jason would stoop so low as to get an A…and Peter getting an A…hahaha…

why would she be bragging abut a grade her brother got?

Based on past experience, it’s a wonder she didn’t sleep through the test after staying up all night trying to study for it.

Shame on you, Roger. We all know Jason only gets A++++++.

Stuff like this this is what discourages girls from doing well in school. I think.
