Great history lesson, Grandma. Unfortunately that expression usually means throwing with a complete lack of coordination or ability (it dates back to the stereotype, driven by old-fashioned ideas about gender roles, that girls simply don’t play baseball). If that’s what’s happening, take your granddaughter outside for some coaching and practice sessions.

My father’s cousin was a professional woman’s softball player, back during WW2. )Like in “A League of Their Own”.
