My Uncle and my Mom had a running dispute which “cropped up” at the U-Pick-It orchard every year. The customers paid by volume not weight. Take peaches at a fixed price per bushel.
Uncle: “You oughta pick the big peaches, not the little ones. That way you get more for your money.”
Mom: “No you don’t. With the smaller ones, you can pack more peaches in the basket because there’s less air space be them.”
Uncle: “They’s less air, alright, but more pits. That’s why bigger is better.”
And so it went. For years and years. The peach cobbler was just as good despite the size of the peaches.
Pluggerville must be more advanced than the town I live in. None of our stores have “Tap and Pay” let alone Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, etc. Most just got the chip reader credit card machines.
$10? I recently paid $12 for a half bushel of apple seconds. It works out to about 49 cent per pound. I use them to make applesauce for our family gatherings. Mostly just for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. Any that is left over, one of my grown kids will take home to devour.
Funny how one looks at things, after years working in food canning industry, I was always told that what goes into the can costs less(alot less) than the can, itself.

I’ve never even heard of Apple pay, so I must be beyond Plugger. Some kind of credit card? An iPhone app? I don’t care…

You can now pay for apples with Apple Pay, so not a real Plugger distinction. All the vendor needs is an iPhone in that cigar box. :)
