Can you “dig” it?

Take a trip to Vietnam, Marm. You’ll find ready-made tunnels there (cf. last week’s “Doonesbury” strip).

Dig, dig, looking for a bone he got there.

Taking a page from “The Great Escape”, Marm?

You mean, “another tunnel”, right?

The only way we get tunnels here is from gophers—-too many rocks!

Just hide King Tut in the tunnel and it’ll get sealed up fast!!!

But doesn’t hurt to have one.

On the other hand, if one had a main house and an auxiliary house of some sort (like a guest house or a grandparent’s house), a connecting tunnel might be kind of cool.
