that is the way it is, around here anyway, you pay more to pick yourself a bag of apples or cherries. You are supposedly paying for the ambience of the orchard etc. However I believe the fruit is worth more anyway because you get to pick it ripe off the tree instead of picked green and shipped to the store. The taste is incomparable! I bought some bananas from the store last month and they refused to ripen! They stayed hard as a rock and you couldn’t even peel them. After doing some research I learned that bananas are picked and shipped green and then gassed at the store so they will ripen. These apparently missed getting gassed! I’d love to taste a banana picked ripe from the tree:-/

Yeah, but those are red delicious apples. As opposed to the heritage breeds they stuck you with. Enjoy!

At least you know when they were picked and how they were handled. Any bruising is your fault when you pick your own.

Next, he’ll want to go to South America and pick his own bananas.

I loved picking apples when I was younger. Back then, we were allowed to climb the trees. That probably had something to do with it.

Beware farmer’s markets. Particularly those in urban areas.

You’re really comparing real apples to supermarket’s antibiotic ridden apples?

The apples in the market are likely from cold storage. Off the tree this year ever so much flavorful.
