From what I’m learning in French, they don’t say “your welcome” after “thank you” they say “da rien” or “it was nothing.” “welcome” or “bienvenue” is a greeting. Of course I’m not a native.

Teens these days don’t know that phrase. Instead they say, “no prob.”

It irritates me to hear dueling thank-yous (especially often in radio interviews). The host will end the interview with a thank-you. The guest responds with their own thank-you, effectively denying the thanks proffered by the host. Essentially saying You can’t thank me, I insist on thanking you. It is a treat to hear a “You’re welcome.”
