People in every culture “Hope” there is an after life and most religions use this as part of the dogma for their members, eventually we will all find out one way or the other, hopefully the adventures will be happy ones for the individuals.
I’ve been studying Belief Systems for more than 50 years as a hobby, and I’ve not yet found any culture that doesn’t have some concept of existence after death, frequently a temporary interlude between lives, and usually a good one.
This was really fun to read. Why death makes us sad.The way I see it with death is we miss those that pass. Then there are the Priesthoods who come up varies hell to try to get us to follow them.
Back in my ADnD days I played a high level cleric. When he died I asked, “Ok, where am I at, what do I see?” and we just went on playing him in the hereafter. Sooner or later my character was sent back to the mortal plane as a messenger and we just picked up from there.
I liked it, and I know why I have tears. I only hope that there is something after all of this pain when the most important person in the world dies and you are all alone to go on.
Thank you again El Jefe! I loved it the first time you ran it. This time I loved it twice as much and I picked up a couple things I ether missed or had forgotten! ;^)
We have evolved this set of mind to stay alive otherwise everyone would be killing themselves. I am one of the few who have no such protections. I see things as they are and that isn’t an advantage.
COVID-19 wasn’t a thing when this series first ran, of course. But it occurs to me that this time around, with so many of us having lost family members and friends, it gives us a glimpse of one possibility for our loved ones. I won’t ask if that was in your mind when you decided to run it, but I can give you a heartfelt thanks for doing so.
Kudos, Sir Justin, on a tale well told. While I may not be religious, I do so like to see the religions from an alternate perspective, especially one doused in humor. Thank you, Sir knight!
It is a law of nature that energy cannot be created or destroyed. If I do not see you again tomorrow, then I will see you again in a little while, in the place where all energy comes together at the end of Time and the end of the universe.

A nice closing scene for the Afterlife Story. Boody ruminates philosophically; Sir Dudley at last gets to sleep (cause and effect?)….
