That’s a dear, old prayer I too used when I was very young. But, it never occurred to me that soul was actually sole. What would God do with all those shoes?
There’s are newer, kinder versions for kids nowadays…don’t want to traumatize the little kiddos. I was taught it as a child as reads above, it never really bothered me.
It’s adorable the way children’s minds interpret things. When I was about 4, I used to sing, “Bringing in the sheeps, bringing in the sheeps; we will come rejoicing bringing in the sheeps.” (For anyone not familiar with this hymn, the word is “sheaves.”)

“….If I should live for better days/I pray the Lord to mend my ways.” Taking a more realistic view of kids than the “newer kinder versions”!
