In Florida, to be safe, you have to assume that any body of water probably has one or more gators in it. I have played at least 50 courses where I have seen gators of various sizes. One of the courses I played regularly had a resident 12 footer.
I have a gator rule. If my ball is within 50 feet of a gator, the ball is his or hers. I get a free drop 50 feet from the gator no nearer the hole.
