Spellcheck can only do so much. You still need to re-read every work, since you can write a completely nonsense sentence and spellcheck will say it’s just perfect. I used to write up silly sentences like that when I taught basic computer classes. A born loser will not get that concept or he would be out of character!
It’s the cheap computer program you got us writing words it thinks you want to use and us having to correct them while in a hurry and misspelling those corrected words. Happens a lot…..
Spellcheck may catch the errors, but you still have to fix them. And it drives me crazy that my phone will autocorrect some of my errors for me, but still will allow “teo” (instead of two) and “tou” (instead of you). If it’s a casual text, I’ve given up correcting those, but I do my best to make sure emails and documents are correct.
Yes, ‘wonderful’ spellcheck. I’ve put a word in [only 1 letter wrong or missing] and it will give a short list – that doesn’t look like my word. So I google it instead – Much more reliable. The automatic is even worse, changing an already posted word to something else – usually the word I was trying to avoid, I always hope I catch those unwanted changes.
