I had received several reviews with ‘exceeds expectations’ and then received a review grade of “Adequate.” When I asked my boss “why,” he replied: I was told by my bosses that I was giving out too many “exceeds expectation” grades and so I randomly picked a few of you to be graded this year as “adequate.” I stood my ground and he changed it.

I would never ever make my boss a liar. Therefore I would perform the way he said I did in reviews.
