My Olde Rugby has hip problems. When it gets cold in New Hampshire we put a heating pad on his hips and back. Ever see a dog smile? PRICELESS

I was a preschooler playing with my little sister when she said, “It’s cold.” We went to Mom and Carol told her it was cold and Mom said, “Oh. I can do this!” She fiddled a little round thing on the wall and before long it was warm. Days later, I felt cold, so I went to Mom and spoke. She said, “If you are cold, put some clothes on.” I realized all I was wearing was a pair of short pants, so I went to my dresser and got a pair of long pants and a shirt. This was a huge discovery for me that I could adjust the temperature with clothes!

I never believed in dog sweater and always thought of them as demeaning. Then, last winter it hit -7 so I decided to get him a flannel sweater for our walks. Can’t tell if he liked it but he didn’t seem to mind.

Dogs and cats have higher body temperatures than we do.

My dogs preferred the cold. They would hang out with us for the briefest time and leave because they were getting hot. But I also once had a dog-little-fur who never seemed to understand why I put a coat on her to go outside when it was below 32 (f)
