I think the conservatives think that the change is mostly natural and part of the long history of the Earth not worth bankrupting economies to make a miniscule dent in the temperature which in rising may actually be beneficial to civilization.
Global warming is a natural phenomena resulting from variations in the tilt of the Earth’s axis as it orbits the sun. But humans have exacerbated it with carbon emissions and deforestation.
