Our kids never had pets, for a variety of reasons. Instead, our daughter amassed a collection of over 500 stuffed animals as she was growing up. Some years ago, we donated several hundred of them to a church thrift store, right around the holidays. We were assured that they would be a popular item and would end up in good homes.
Our daughter still has a few of her favorites, as do we, but a few years ago I informed her that I expected her to take full possession of them by the time she turns 30; she has roughly one more year to go.
