I see an Employer-sponsored trade school in that boy’s future!

Why are you taking on this “college fund” burden? Needless stress. There are other options. He can:> Join the military first. Uncle Sam will help pay for his college after a 4-year hitch. And he’ll be mature enough to appreciate it. (It worked for me, and lots of other Vietnam vets).> In a few years, see if he’d rather join a skilled trade. Good electricians make as much as most college graduates.> Let him go to a low-cost 2-year college first, to see if he even WANTS a 4-year degree.> If he goes directly into a civilian job, many employers offer college-level financial assistance.

I think the days of parents saving enough to pay for a kid’s (possible) college are over and done.
