Girl: Just look at this filth and vandalism, Judith. Course, I guess we should just be thankful we live in a world where asterisk, ampersand, pound sign, exclamation mark is as vulgar as it'll ever get.
Think about all of the graffiti you have seen. I am sure there were curse words. In comics, curse words are represented by “* @ # &.”
To all others
Please be nice, I was only explaining, not cursing!
The L with a bar through it (i.e. £) is the sign for unit of currency known as the British pound.
While the # symbol is known as the octothorpe, it’s probably more commonly referred to as the pound sign by the general public. It’s also known as the number sign, or the hash character.

It’s not a mistake, The Graffitists just haven’t got to the ultimate vulgarity yet.

That graffiti about Blondie is pretty vulgar. (Anybody know the rest of the phone number?)
fredbuhl about 15 years ago
I’m hoping the blonde on the wall is not the crone doing the reading.
coffeeturtle about 15 years ago
Well, C. Brown DOES have a fat head!! LOL!!
Dagwood is not going to appreciate those phone calls.
Beetle is in love with the secretary… everyone knows that!
