Years ago when I was a kid some supermarket cornered the market on canned pumpkin and squash for pies. The cans were stacked to the ceiling or it seemed so to me. Each week the pile seemed to remain the same. Prices were 20 cents a can then went to 10 cents a can to a nickel a can and finally 2 cents a can and still the pile looked as large as from the first. Eventually the pile dwindled and disappeared but I will never forget it like a national monument for months.
