Mr Rod: “they’re expired? Oh well it’s the thought that counts”

Rod reminds me of a miserly boss I used to work for. He was so tight he squeaked. We used to call him Mr. Constipation because we reckoned he was too cheap to even part with …!

The delightful irony was that he eventually fell for a real golddigger who knew how to spend his money … and did!

Why is Baldo still working for a place that treats him like crap?

When employees do a great job give them a bonus, give them gift certificates, give them an extra day off. It shows your appreciation, makes them feel good, and does not compound year after year like a raise would do.

When there used to be Bed, Bath, Beyond stores: in California, they’d accept any coupon no matter how expired, because the code doesn’t expire, only the date on the paper does. In Texas, they’d look at you funny if it’s the exact day on the paper, and good luck trying to convince them to let you use it if the date has passed. I guess they didn’t want my money THAT badly…..

That happened to my 26 year old son. He didn’t really want to leave the first real job he got right out of college, but he received an offer for considerably more $‘s and a chance to continue his education for free. If he would have been compensated fairly the from the beginning he probably would have stayed put.Hopefully his former employer learned a lesson and won’t string their next employee along hoping to get something for little…
