My uncle was born on Boxing day. He used to complain that as a kid, all he ever got for his birthday was Pepto (my grandparents were very big on over-eating for holidays). His middle name was Stephen. Care to guess why?
My older daughter & I watched the entire “Rocky/Creed” franchise, one a day. On the day we watched the first “Creed” movie, there was also a NASCAR truck race, and my daughter is a HUGE motor sports fan (she follows NASCAR as well as open wheel). At one point she joked, “Wouldn’t it be funny if [driver] Sheldon Creed won today?” and we both laughed. When the movie was over she checked the results of the truck race…and the winner was…Sheldon Creed!
This ISN’T how you celebrate Boxing Day? Nuts. I used to celebrate it by viciously cutting open boxes that never did a thing to me. (I was a box cutter for the K-Mart Distribution Center in the town I live in.)
There was a ‘MASH’ episode where the 4077th surgeons were convinced by some visiting British military officers to trade places with the enlisted personnel for Boxing Day. I’m sure Andy would love her family to do that today.
Boys, you left out “The Champ”. That’s one even Paige would watch. I prefer the 1931 version, with little Jackie Cooper, but the 1979 version was just as good.
Have fun, guys. We had a Harry Potter binge. The ending was worth the wait. Harry got what he wanted and deserved, a tolerant, loving family. If you have not had one, you know how incredible it is to have one.

Don’t forget the 1956 film “The Harder They Fall.” It was Humphrey Bogart’s final film role.

For the longest time I totally thought that was what “boxing day” meant…that there’d become kind of championship boxing match the day after Christmas…
