Love today’s poem. So sorry gas is so high for commuters right now. You know, last year was supposed to be the bad year, and it seems to me that this year has been a little worse.
Solar panels on the house since late 2017. Bicycles. ‘Regular’, recumbent and electric. Full electric automobile since 2020. Plug-in hybrid since 2020. Last bought gas for an automobile in Late July – early August. Average electric bill for the last 12 months: $12.39 CREDIT. Watching the meter run BACKWARDS: priceless.
I walk everywhere, except when traveling for vacations — oh, wait, pandemic, so no vacations (sigh). Other than that, I took a bus in July 2020 to see a museum exhibit. I haven’t owned a car in almost 20 years.
I buy gas for my little Buick Encore SUV maybe once every other month, but then I only go to the grocery store twice a week and maybe the drug store once a week. Less than 8000 miles on a 2017 vehicle. Did have to replace the battery as I wasn’t using it enough I guess? Being retired has its perks.
Yup—fuel costs add up. Kinda makes me want to look at a hybrid for my next vehicle … if not a full electric. In the words of Bob Dylan: The times they are a’changin’ …

You might want to add face masks to your shopping gift list. Looks like we are heading for another mask up or else, coming to a state near you.
