We thought the end was near so many times only to start over again.

Only 5 billion years left? I’d better get my Xmas shopping done.

Nuclear weapons, pandemic, political turmoil, climate change. Yeah, you may have a point.

That could be a sign of hope, as in “The end is finally here!”

The End is not near ! 11 days of Christmas shopping left to go !

The end is nigh. Sigh. Now go out and buy. This message is from your local Chamber of Commerce.

Ya’ll are really spoiled if you think these are hard times.

So many people can do so much good but so much can be wiped out by the actions of one person. And the “one persons” out there are becoming myriad. We (humans) are doing it to ourselves. Sad, really. From time to time I try to imagine what it could be like if we all pulled on the same end of the rope.
