I once told my boss that if he gave me a bad review (there-by costing me a bonus) if he thought I was bad now, wait until after I got that review. He NEVER gave me a bad review!
At every place of my employment where the progressive policies gave rise to two-way annual evaluations – boss of me and me of boss – such policies lasted only one year; back to just me from then on. The boss evaluation was usually replaced with evaluation of my future goals. My number one goal was always to not die at my desk.
Such on-line questionnaires seem more like a public relations effort than a practical tool. In the days of paper questionnaires, we were at least assured that someone would stack them up and weight them on a scale before discarding. :)
I had a company where we did reviews of our management. They congratulated every manager that had a high score, and hid every low score. Management was supposed to share the information with their subordinates , mine never did (she scored very low) when the rest of discussed our answers. Wrote an email to the VP of Corporate of HR, saying that management didn’t share the results they swept it under the rug and gave me a BS answer.

I had a boss who told us that we’d better rate his higher on the next online review. We didn’t.

Now the boss can report back that no one said he was a bad boss.

Yes, you’re a fine boss. And that suit doesn’t make you look fat at all.
