Not sure but 1992 was a strange in between year for brats. No longer could the father take the boy out to the woodshed like it was permissible in my time in the 1960s, but parents could still spank their brats with a flat hand because the children’s aid had yet to give the kids an 800 number to dial if they were so much as touched in a bad way.

The best way to make a 6 year old give up on chewing tobacco is to give them some and make them properly chew it. After they are done throwing up the mystique will be dead and buried.

I honestly don’t understand why people put in the hard effort to develop such habits. Not like something pleasurable from the start like chocolate addiction…..

I’d let him chew tobacco. Once would probably be enough to put him off tobacco for life.

I used to get pushed around and made fun of and put down by people when I was his age. I remember working jobs so I could have money. I turned out ok.

I don’t know, though. Sometimes all it takes is one nap over the line and POW! reality break!

Calvin, just be glad you have relatively normal parents. My father gave me my first cigar to smoke when I was 6, and my first shot of rye to drink when i was 7. Never had a curfew, and didn’t even get a lecture when i came in at 5 am on a school night? day? whatever you call 5 in the morning the day after a day of school and a day that you are going to school. Rules are a good thing to have.

Calvin might be right. Several high profile killers in history were NOT allowed to chew tobacco as a child.
