hmmm . . . . my grandfather would say in reference to a thick headed person, they “couldn’t tell $h!% from apple butter”

There is a lot of labor in cooking down apple butter to keep it from burning to the bottom.

Sorry, but is charming the right word here? Does it fit with the downhome, wonderful joy that is Meemaw’s Apple Butter?
