And if you don’t get up right now, I’m gonna pee in your slippers!

Could be worse. Could be a cat, who will systematically knock everything off the night stand, the dresser, and whatever else she can find until you get up and feed her. By the time you get back to the bedroom, she’ll be curled up in your still-warm spot, fast asleep!

“But I’m going to pee in your slippers if you don’t take me outside.”

(I don’t have to worry about this with my puppies. They use pee pads. If I’m more than 5 minutes late getting up, they use them without apologies.)

If it was the cat, he’d be on the guy’s chest pummeling with noses almost touching

Very apropos (for me). Slept a whole hour past the cats’ (3) usual breakfast time this morning. Friskies had a special treat for them, shredded wild sardines!

I have to wake my dog up in the mornings. I will lift the covers up, ask my dog if she is ready to get up. Repeat as long as needed, until she finally crawls up for some petting first. However, the first night I had her, she crawled out of the covers at 6a in a big hurry as if she had to get to work on time! An email to former owner let me know that the family did get up at 6a and in a hurry. Morning two, she got up and growled. I opened one eye to see her staring into a mirror. Morning 3 started the first part of this, trying to get her up every morning and that is how it has been for the last 5 years. She isn’t old enough yet to get me up at night, but I am sure the time will come. My last dog eventually had me up and outside every hour around the clock for about a year. She didn’t like it either, but would not go on the floor or a pee pad. No complaints from me, it’s all part of taking care of a family member. By that time I had made her a bed on the floor, as she was unable to jump up on the bed and had too much arthritis to want to be lifted.
