I worked when I was sick, sometimes overtime without pay, helped customers without maintenance, all for the customer. And the first chance they get to fire you… out the door you go. And if they can make it “with cause”. all the better.
Once I had an auto accident on the way to work, after calling the police I called my job to tell them I couldn’t make it, my supervisor still expected me to come in.
Two years ago, my back went out when I went to pick up small laundry basket with a few clothes in it. Very light, but when I went to straighten up it felt like someone grabbed both ends of my spine and stretched it out. Worst pain I ever felt in my life and needless to say that I dropped to the ground, screaming, and went into the fetal position. The pain eased laying there, but I wasn’t able to move for hours and only barely after taking a large amount of Tylenol and Motrin.
I have had injections in my spine and even some of the nerves cauterized to try and dull the pain, but nothing took it all away; and I refuse to do drugs because of other meds I take. Still hurts when I stand for too long or bend over for more than a couple seconds. Ugh…I feel your pain Norm!

I have known mid-level managers who were that cold and clueless.

Maybe the nice comfy chair will relax the back.

Not realistic depiction of severe back trauma. Very realistic depiction of most management responses.

Chiropractor time…at least that’s what works best for me.
