Reminds me of Iron Maiden’s “When The Wild Wind Blows” – a couple, believing they’re, effectively the sole-survivors of a nuclear holocaust in a bunker are left despondent.
I suspect the tin-foil hat is supposed to act like a Faraday Cage and protect the brain from electrical impulses from without. Not sure it would work if it wasn’t grounded, though.
