My family’s dog used to watch and wait until the moment we left a recliner vacant before also immediately claiming it for herself. She also learned to look for any tail-tells that’d suggest we’d be coming right back and plan ahead accordingly, but in the instances when she made the wrong call and she took the chair only to find we were immediately coming right back, she’d give us that poor innocent look with her eyes, as if silently asking “you’re not REALLY going to force me to move, are you?”
My loving wife and I had 2 Chihuahua’s and a Catahoula Leopard Dog and cats too. They all tried to steal my chair while I was in it, actually they liked to cuddle with me. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. Sadly we lost all of the animals we had in 2020 and 2021 as well as my loving wife in March. No one left to cuddle with, my wife’s new cats haven’t figured it out yet.

This is my life… except that a cat is my thief!

The cats would steal it while Dad was in the chair.
Invisi-chair™ – it only looks like you stole it (patent pending). (Has anyone created a comfortable, clear plastic chair?

Well, stop conquering my chair every time I finally get to use it.

Our dogs learned that Dad will squish them if they stay. They move out of the way at the last possible second before his bottom touches the seat.

Well, it’s hard to steal it while you’re still in it.
