Apparently very little has changed in the workaday world in the fifteen years since I’ve retired.

A place I worked once brought in one of those “corporate team building” scams in for a whole week, in which absolutely nothing was accomplished.

The next wee, they told us that they could not afford to give the carpenters, loaders, and us truckdrivers our customary $150 holiday bonus. Yeah, we were just full of corporate spirit, let me tell you………(the sales geeks, office staff, & suits did get their $2000 bonus, though).

The real purpose is to spread out the number of targets for the workers’ resentment.

Corporations tend to go in patterns of training and management just long enough and to repeat them enough to forget how badly the next one coming up has always failed in the past.

And we’re about due for the latest incarnation of TQM arent we?

A while back, my job sent me to a couple of seminars led by a guy whose name is, I kid you not, Gene Swindell! Fitting, no?
