When my kids were little, we used to dig snow tunnels in the huge snow piles left by the plow. We used our little folding shovels and dug a network of tunnels that even in could squeeze through. Good memories.
I was a snow mole as a kid. We would dig throw the massive piles of snow and create forts. Also, lots of fun with creating sled runs through the yard. Ah, the days when living outside was no big deal. Now I just am grateful for my snow blower.
Reminds me of my son at 7. First day we arrived in Vermont to live. Snow was up to his shoulders. He just jumped into the pile along the back of the farmhouse and started digging. In a few hours he had a great tunnel system. Good memories indeed…

Uh, that’s actually dangerous. It’s in the news almost every winter.

Smart kid. People die every year building snow tunnels without the supports Clayton calls for.

Making tunnels (and trails and forts and “igloos”) in the snow – brings back some great memories.

Snow mole. Isn’t that what they call spies in Siberia?

At least Clayton may miss several days of school when he’s bedridden with the flu (or maybe COVID-19).

Nice. You have a winter hobbit in the family. Congratulations. “Dimbo Baggins, at your service.”

This is a painful way to find the garden gnome or lawnmower you forgot was there.

Good timing for this theme vis a vis the Nor’easter that hit yesterday.

My drifts never got quite that high (2-3 feet was the norm) but the tunnels and forts we built were sure fun, just the same. Aaaah memories!!
