I live next door to a middle school. For at least an hour last night they were setting off fireworks, firecrackers, and what sounded like dynamite. I think I also heard gunshots. Not too sure. The only ones I usually hear are on TV. They must spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on that junk. They should donate that to veterans with PTSD and animal shelters. :(
One of the neighbors spent most of the day preparing, then at midnight, used dynamite to cut a ditchline next to their driveway. Rural life is interesting.
I hooked up my Casio keyboard to my PA and my 15" pro speaker on my front porch and played the first bar of “O Canada” followed by “Auld Lang Syne” at full volume. My neighbour slept right through it and didn’t hear a thing. Oh, well.
I kept hearing a thud sound thinking it maybe a bird hitting the window. My wife and I kept walking around the house trying to figure it out. Finally I looked outside. Saw neighbors about two blocks away shooting off fireworks. What a pain?

It was very quiet here. My dog doesn’t seem to mind fireworks and we get plenty on the 4th.

soooo sick of hearing idiots firing their automatic weapons and hoping they aren’t firing them into the air

Not just New Year’s Eve. In Arizona, they’ve even made Christmas Eve a “fireworks holiday.” So much for Silent Night, Holy Night, all is calm…

The city I was in had authorized fireworks for New Years this year. Strangely, not a one could be heard in the area I was at.
