Every few years the county talks about shutting down or cutting hours at the two remaining neighborhood branch libraries. Although small, and not as impressive as the main or 3 large branches, they have very loyal patrons, who continue to fight for them. If the little library does not have a book you want, you can request it from one of the other branches, or any other library in Wisconsin through an interlibrary loan. Love your local library!
I’m very afraid that in a few generations, the computers will have taken over completely to satisfy everyone’s “thirst”.. and perhaps all books will be burned, not because of banning, but because there will be no place to store them all! And then some tragedy will cut off our electricity or a totalitarian government will decide what information people will be allowed to read, like a lot of our social sites are already doing, and we all will then have an unquenchable thirst and not be allowed near the “watering hole” again! And again, many places aren’t allowing unvaccinated people to eat a meal or shop for food without showing their “papers” to say they ARE, so we are already halfway there!
“Some drink from the fountain of knowledge. Others just gargle.” Dennis Owens.I live 2 blocks from my neighborhood library. I’m there every week, restocking my weekly reads. Last year I read over 120 books. Non-fiction and fiction at a 40/60 split.
