My Siberian has decided that rubbing the edge of the comforter hanging from the bedside is the greatest thing in the world. The comforter is white, now with the added flair of the four inch wide oily stripe along my side. He thinks he is an interior designer apparently….

We have an older recliner and all of the cats think it’s there for stretching

They know better than to actually claw it (most of the time, and the kitten is still learning), but they hook their claws into it to stretch

Always the same arm, that old recliner looks a little older all the time

My pets are always allowed on the furniture, after all, they are part of the family.

The lesson every dog (or cat) owner must learn is that their furniture will get pet all over it whether they want it to or not. The only way to truly avoid it is to not have the pet altogether (or, I suppose, the furniture), so they’re better off just not fighting it, really.

Way back I had a cat and I ended up buying a big upholstered chair at the local thrift shop so she could use that for a scratching post instead of my speakers. She didn’t like the pet store scratching post, but she LOVED that chair.
