My dog, because she was injured, was riding in a carriage as I walked the neighborhood. Some local teenagers were passing us and one of the guys turned and looked into the carriage and exclaimed “BabyDog!” So now she has a second name.

Our New kitten, 10 months pld, is Mini. I don’t think she knows her real name since my husband insists on calling her Mookie, which is derived from Munchkin

Of the top of my head I listed 12 for my Sophie. There is probably more, and she answers to each of them.

Toblerone? I’d go with Milky Way….or Reese’s PB cup or…..ANYTHING but Toblerone.

My dog’s name is Boone. His sitter once referred to him as “Booney Tunes.” It stuck.

My last dog was briefly called Baby as I didn’t have a name yet. I do mean briefly. Once we found her a name, she refused to answer to it. She lived 15 years as Baby, her choice. My current dog thinks her name is either “Out?” or “Eat!” As a therapy dog, she responds very well to “awwwwww,” which she hears constantly when working.

My Irish Setter, of many very old happy memories, probably thought her name was dammit. When she was slow to respond, which was often, I would call “Come here, dammit!”.

Our little (10-pound) white dog, Candy, had that name when we got her. She now also answers to Little One, Little Bits, Baby, and MiniMutt — and probably a few others. I can’t say she answers to Candace Irene (which Ionly ever call her when she’s in trouble, just like a kid) but when she hears it, she takes off.

This guy is a Toby. He came to me with that name so I went with it. He also has the nickname Toblerone. Hoover would also have been appropriate due to his constant vacuuming of the floors to find leftovers.

“What is the name of your dog called. Rover, but that is only what his name is called. His name is actually Buddy. But that is just his name…he is actually Skipper.” Lewis Carroll making fun of logic.

“‘When I calls him, I goes, ’WHUP! HEY! CLIFFORD BOY, C’MERE! C’MERE CLIFFORD!’”

“Why does that make him mad?”

    “His name ain’t rightly Clifford.”
