Just had a storm with about 16 inches here – much more to the east. Live on a 4 lane main county road. A plow came through brineing the road on Thursday night. Storm started late Friday afternoon and continued well into Saturday night. When we looked at the road and the snow we could tell that no plows had come through. There was one lane in each direction where cars had worn down the snow almost to the road.
Dug out on Sunday – at least it was fluffy snow so not hard to lift – took us a few hours. We woke up today – Monday – guess who finally had shown up this morning – yes, a plow. So we had to clear 2ft of hard, heavy snow from both driveway cuts – and after we finished the first one – the plow came through again and it had to be cleared again! By sheer luck a fellow driving a pickup truck with a plow on the front happened to be passing by and he stopped and broke up the snow with the plow in front of one entry. He was about to do the same for the other – but a plow came again (yes at least 3 passes on the road 2 days after the snow ended and not coming at all during or the day the snow ended) and county employee told him he had to leave and could not help us as he had been doing!
We are in our very late 60s and not in the best of the health. In the 30+ years we lived in this house this one fellow is the only one to ever try helping us other than when people were available to hire to clear the snow – and we have not been able to find anyone to pay to clear the snow in over 15 years. We are very glad for what he did before they chased him away.

Continuity error! In the Jan 2nd strip Rose was jumping around in the snow, loving it. She even lost a boot.

This is why there are four seasons. When you start getting tired of one, another is on the horizon.

They both have their plusses. Lack of clothing or the need for clothing is a big one though…..
