Actually, the sad fact is, Jesus did a lot of “hits.” He tried to get folks to obey the Law they already had and said they knew, while showing them how by perfectly following it Himself. Yeah, they didn’t like that either. He did give some new teaching and commands, but much of it was straight out of the Law of Moses. “Love your neighbor as you love yourself” is from Leviticus. Jesus was quoting something the folks there already knew.
