Can also be a fashion statement, at work I wore bibs and on the loop I would tuck in a rag. Ditched the rag and below the the loop I carried a small flashlight on a clip and would slip the straps under the clip so I always had my mask handy. True story!
Home decor also outside decor ! Seems that folks can not find a garbage can to put the used ones in . Several times a year when I go for my daily walk I bring a bag to pick up the garbage along the route I take. Within a month of masking those things started springing up everywhere !
There are free mask distributed by the U. S. Government at the local drug store, limit 3 per person. I checked my Federal taxes paid last year and divided by 3 to find my actual cost.
Many of the deniers worry about the costs of masks but never for a moment consider the cost of even a fairly mild case of COVID, let alone the cost on the system and humanity for a serious or fatal case. Seems they’re just incapable of thinking of anything that isn’t entirely and completely about them, and that in turn ends up costing the rest of us a lot in so many ways. It always has to be about them and no consideration for others.
If you wear a mask – and wear it properly – you do not protect yourself as much as you protect others – others you care about but also others who if they get it can spread it, and that could very well come back to your family, friends, coworkers, etc.
Remember – Over The Nose Is Where It Goes. Do not take it off to talk to someone! Keep distant. And wash your hands often – that 30 seconds or so isn’t much, except that it’s very important.
If folks had all been doing this all along, this could have been a lot less of a hassle and might have been over long ago.
It doesn’t spread one on one, it spreads exponentially. One gives it to two, two gives it to four, four give in to eight, and so on – or even more and more quickly. In a week or two you get many, many more than you’d think sick.
Most of y’all liked MythBusters, right? This is 10 years old, long before the Corona virus. It proves the point pretty well and pretty simply…

But if y’all don’t believe that it spreads like that, just put some glitter out for your grandchildren to play with for a few minutes. Glitter is many, many times larger and harder to spread than a virus, and COVID is very small even for a virus.
If y’all won’t wear a mask and wash your hands maybe then the rest of us should just give all of your grandkids a bunch of sparkly pink glitter to play with.
Our’s hang on the door knob of the door to the garage. I also decorate the inside of our vehicles with them (couple hanging on the review mirror in each) just in case we forget to grab one off the door.
I have my cloth reusables in two containers by the front door, one for clean and one for “been worn.” When the "been worn’’ gets full, it’s time to wash them. We keep 4 -5 for each of us in each car and I must have about 4 – 5 of these surgical masks in coat pockets in their envelopes in case I lose the one I took from home disappears or is needed by someone else. If you are a sports fan, Fanatics.com has good ones that have pockets for 2.5 pm filters for all the major league sports teams, and many universities, for a reasonable price. Or you can go to your team’s website. I am not a paid endorser, I’m just a semi-retired MD who used to work with patients who had compromised immune systems.

Might as well decorate the house with them, since they don’t work against covid. Good idea to wear one if you have a cold though.

She needs to put on one of those masks. Even in your own home you need to wear a mask.
