About this, I’m sticking with the idea of the book “Hogfather” by Terry Pratchett. We do not abandon the small fantasies, we simply graduate to the big ones: Justice, Mercy, Duty and so on.

When you’re 4 and have an imaginary friend, you’re creative. When you’re 40 and have one, you’re schizophrenic.

Your imaginary friend still believes in you.

Looks like she was precocious, as usual.

I remember when my imaginary friend left. I didn’t just have an imaginary friend; I had an imaginary enemy as well! The two of them had a feud going on, and there would be all sorts of hijinks. Then, one day, they made peace. I distinctly remember the two of them walking away, hand in hand, never to be seen again. It was a happy day, not a sad one. I no longer needed them, and in turn, they no longer needed me, which I suppose is why I never really missed them. I think I was four years old; this would’ve been about the time I started attending preschool, so I was just moving on to the next phase of life. I remember it fondly, not sadly. ;-)

I never had an imaginary friend – nor do I think, did my sisters.
