Auguring the collapse of print media as early as 1997. Not bad, Trudeau; not bad at all.

A paperless future? What, no TP!! (Which isn’t really a problem in many parts of the world which use water instead) :D

Wow, deja vu backwards. Which, if you think about it, is “UV Aged”. Sort of sums up Zonker.

Panel Four: Mike, the symbol of the past talking to Zonker, the symbol of the future. There is a little irony in that previous sentence, the part beginning with the word “Zonker”. I am happy with the decline of print media. Forests are no longer being obliterated to create an ephemeral product that its last function will be to line the bottom of a birdcage. The recent forest fires place more emphasis on conserving our forests.

The electronic media will allow newspapers to flourish beyond the wildest dreams of a 1960’s print media baron. The New York Times is delivered to my PC in Illinois minus the ink.

I wonder if that was a monochrome monitor…remember the green screens of the Trash-80’s?

A FAQ is a “frequently asked question”. As far as I can tell, this is the only time this question (three-part question, really) has ever been asked. :)

What IS it with newspapers leaving ink on your fingers?

What a day. Not only is this 1997 Doonesbury still timely and painfully accurate today, but today’s Bloom County from the great Berkeley Breatherd is also incredibly timely despite being from the mid-1980s. Alphonse Karr’s satirical assertion that the more things change, the more they seem the same, still holds all too true.

“Electronic mail” remember when we were deciding to spell email with or without the hyphen? It was the rise of the iPhone that decided that debate.
