very nice, Gordon (I never bothered my folks for a dog; I just grew up with cats)

The boys suddenly look so grown up. It seems they skipped middle school and early high school years. Tall and lanky. Couldn’t say the same about Gordon though. He’s always been stocky.

It’s only when kids get older do they notice that their parents are not prefect, and their household may differ from their friends.

Parents go thru three phases! Smartest people we know when we’re young. Dumbest people on earth when we’re teens. Then we grow up and realize that neither idea of them was true! Not all knowing nor unknowing. JUST PEOPLE!

Then there is the dementia stage, as seen in Marian (Elly’s mother), who caused kitchen fires to the extent she is on a first name basis with all the local fire fighters.

What is up with Lawrence’s color? In some strips he is cocoa brown, other strips he is white as a flounder’s belly.

All parents are indeed nuts. Insanity is hereditary, after all — you get it from your kids!

If parents are nuts, then how does one explain how the “Greatest Generation” destroyed the Axis, then came home to build the 1950s, which was the cleanest and most prosperous era in North America’s history?

And, for parents, it’s the kids that make ’em nuts. Prior to kids coming into their lives, they knew just what to do.

It’s been awhile since I was censored, but it appears that it has happened again. I had a comment earlier suggesting that it was not so nice for Connie to withhold a dog from Lawrence and then get one for herself. Now it is gone.

And it’s not until you reach their age with children that you understand why they are all nuts.

I forgot to add my disgust at the fact that the puppy is still in the cage when Lawrence gets home. I guess I can’t assume that Lawrence got home after Greg did, but it seems like that would be the logical scenario. There’s no excuse for Connie to leave the puppy in there that long, on its first night in a new place with new people.

Gordon has no clue about the Ten Commandments, so he is destined for an afterlife that will make Africa feel like Antarctica. (Commandment #5: “Honor thy mother and father”).

Gordon should know, his parents are far worse than nuts. They’re drunk and abusive!
