Had a friend twenty or so years ago who got a very adorable little ball of fur with a black little nose sticking out. This canine ball of fur wanted to sit and sleep in everyone’s lap and played up on his cuteness to the hilt. Unfortunately, a year or so later he grew up to be a 180 lb. St. Barnard who still thought of himself as a cute lap dog. Even if he took up three or so laps at a time.
We had a cat when I was a kid. He used to sit in a peach tree about a foot and a half to two feet off the ground. The neighbors Saint Bernard used to come over and stare at the cat and start barking barking bark bark bark bark bark. The cat would just close its eyes and turn its head boy did that frustrate that dog. This went on everyday for about 15 minutes finally the dog would just shake its head and walk away.
Mr. & Mrs. Thomas may be fussing over the puppy, but that hardly is considered a sanity issue. I have been stationed in parts of the world where they have a very different view about puppies and kittens. Out of respect for any commentors who may be from those places, or have friends and family there, I am not going to disclose where. What I will say is I saw people kick around dogs and cats in the expectation of making them a future meal. They openly were proud of kicking the animals, believing that by doing so it made the meat more tender. That is what I personally considered a loss of sanity.

Wait about 9 months when the dog is mostly full grown. Attitudes can change when “Cute wittle puppy” becomes a sweet, slobbering doggo.
Me? Bring it, shedded hair all over my clothes and all!

It will moderate when the “puppy” starts tearing things up and peeing on the carpet.

The question I would be asking, “How can you tell?” Parents are parents.

Sure I’ll increase your allowance. You now have puppy/doggie clean up duty to earn it.

Ask for favors while they’re in an overly friendly mood!(And hide the bills that came in today’s mail).

Funny, I’d expect Greg to be furious.
Especially when he tripped over the cage!!
Oh, well—at least the puppy is preferable to his insufferable daughters.

Maybe this would be a good time to break some news to them.
