Use one that is easy to remember, like Dammit Dog.

Lol. My current dogs’ names are Daisy and Shaggy. Daisy for her white coat (when she was a puppy, she was fully white. Her spots popped in as she neared age one) and Shaggy for his soft coat with curled tail that is bushy.

As a girl dog, her nickname would be “Maxi”, not Max.

Whether you’re a dog man, (or a man dog) Sara is a dumb name. Sara might be okay name if she was a dog lady or lady dog.

“Sara” might be a dumb name for a dog, but “Michael” is the perfect name for an asshat..

It honestly doesn’t matter what you name a pet, they just need to respond to it

When my husband & I had our cats, they all had full, “human” names, “call” names, and nicknames…and they responded. For instance, our brown tabby was Mitchell Ryan, call name Mitch, nickname Bubba. I could never name a pet “Fluffy” or “Mittens” or after a food.

My dog only reacts to high pitched rattling of paper or aluminum foil. For her, it’s a sign of coming snacks. Names are irrelevant. Sometimes I call her a he, or a long haired dog, she’s a short hair dog. It doesn’t matter. The fact that I’m outside with her and talking to her is all that matters. And belly rubs. She loves belly rubs.

Sounds like a Calvin & Hobbes strip:

Calvin is opening a can when he hears rumbling

    Calvin{talking to himself}: “Oh no!”

    Calvin gets tackled

Calvin: “It was not tuna, it was pineapple! See?”

Hobbes: “All cans sound the same.”

My late loving wife and I named many of our dogs and cats and through their lives the names evolved. Our Catahoula Leopard dog was deaf but he still had a name and I said it to him all of the time.

Any animal will learn your name for it if you use it often enough. When they are puppies (or kittens), use the name every time you talk to them and they will start to recognize it.

Sara isn’t a dumb name for a dog. It’s up to the owner on what they want to call them.

Dependent on which FBOFW character yells "Food!, that has a whole new meaning for the dog.
