Our dear sweet and very smart Border Collie was crate trained as a puppy, but as she got older the stairs to basement got to risky. So since she was so well behaved we let her and our other dog a Lhasa Apso mix just stay upstairs restricted to kitchen and family room area when we were gone from home. We were surprised when we returned one day and found her on our couch (fake leather ). When we said her name, she stood up, stretched and slowly got down. I think that was when we figured her hearing wasn’t that good as she normally would have heard the garage door open. We had a feeling she would not stop laying on the couch so we let her when we were gone. We like to think this made her final years happier.
Wonderful news from Gretchen’s mom….“Just thought you’d want to know: Battersea’s website says that Luke has officially been rehomed! So glad to know that he’s finally out of their shelter after spending over 200 days there and now has a loving new fur-ever home and family to spend the rest of his life with! ♥”
A former coworker of mine used to have a Great Dane, “Holly”. Whenever Holly wanted to sit on the couch, she would just walk backwards onto it; her rear end was the same height as the cushion!

I hope Rover isn’t sick. And possibly dehydrated? To the vet immediately, young pup! (That’ll get him off the couch quick!)

Rover’s living the dream. Must think he’s retired.

The positions Rover are in are just like Newton’s when he’s napping on the sofa—yep, he’s allowed, which drives my son crazy when he visits.

I have never liked rules against animals getting on soft furniture. Tables and counters, sure….
