Cathy, that will never happen as long as the anti-vaxxers run riot.

Cathy doesn’t have a nose to swab on most days here. You had better catch her on the days one shows up.

Just got my results from my latest COVID test. Negative. So I am cleared for returning to the U.S. in a few hours. I can’t believe I made it through this trip. The people I was with were great with masks and such, but I have encountered a few thousand other tourists (Russian, French, Italian, etc.) who could not be bothered and would get right in my face. I had N95 masks on whenever possible, just removing mine for eating.

I’m not picking on those nationalities, just it seems they are the ones I am encountering. In fact, a very kind French man (wearing a mask) helped me with my luggage last night, which was so nice as I injured my knee and am hobbling.

There is a reason for this Cathy. The shots of noses getting swabbed and needles going in arms is what generates clicks. Not to mention the small (albeit noisy) minority of anti vaxxers and people continuing to post a hissy over masks. Bad news will always trump good news on both TV news and social media. I’m seeking out good news whenever I can, that cases are falling in many states (though they’re rising in a few states like Idaho, Kentucky, etc.). Yes, the death rate has risen in the past few weeks but the death rate has always lagged behind the case rate by a few weeks (so the death rate should start falling soon as well). In the meantime, I am done with fretting over the anti vaxxers and the remaining hesitant. Because freaking out over these yahoos just gives them power.

Hate to burst any bubbles, but my health care provider told me that people like me, with multiple health issues, WILL be getting a second booster shot 6 months after the first booster shot. Or at least should get one. I’m due for it in the middle of this month, and will gladly take it so I can get out and about safely.

She did tell me to get a different vaccine than the original three shots – works much better it seems.

    It’d be great, wouldn’t it?

However, sure looks like COVID is here to stay—at least for now.

    [Sigh]
