Actually scientists don’t invent anything. They discover scientific principles that allow engineers to create stuff. Okay, its more complicated than that, attempts to develope useable fusion reactors involves a collaboration of scientists and engineers.
Space ship? Months to get just to Mars? Ya gotta have a star ship. With warp drive, or hyper drive, or whatever makes you faster than the laws of physics.
