My wife does this with me as well. If I wanted to clean up, then I would clean up.

Traditionally, women have long had to do a whole lot of things even when they “don’t feel up to it” - like having to change diapers and feed toddlers when they had the flu; so this is a pretty pathetic excuse.

If he doesn’t do it she has to and there is an uneven distribution of chores. Tell him if he expects any dinner today he’d better get out there and get busy.

I was positive, judging by the setup, the punchline was going to have to do with a last will and testament somehow….

Macushlalondra says: If he doesn’t do it she has to and there is an uneven distribution of chores. Tell him if he expects any dinner today he’d better get out there and get busy. — These two have been married since the Truman administration. They should both have realized decades ago that there is no way either one is going to change the other.

As to the above comments, most adults have to do things they don’t want to or they don’t “feel up to” having to do (women & men, not just women) but when you’re Earl & Opal’s age, retired and just the 2 of them there’s no reason they should have to do something they don’t feel like doing. Not something like picking up the yard anyway!
